Elite Ice Fishing Box from Simple Fishing 2018

Finally! This week my RLM Elite Ice Fishing box arrived from Simple Fishing. The Elite Ice box is a limited quantity item, only 100 were available on release. It is designed as a multi-species box meant to be used through the ice in a variety of locations, on a variety of target species. With a pretty bad experience from a different ice box, I was very hopeful that Simple Fishing would come through for me. Of course, true to form, it was quickly apparent why they are Canada’s leading tackle subscription box.

With Riley and Jesse fishing beside me, I opened up the Elite Ice box out on the Red River. We were hoping to get something new and exciting to try out right away, since the fishing so far had been absolutely dead.

Unboxing the RLM Elite Ice Box

As soon as I opened the box I knew I was in for a treat. We started off with a couple of Chum Pucks.  The concept is the simple, toss it in the water and let the scent draw the fish right in. Trust me, these pucks have a strong scent!
Moving on I pulled out the Vexan Crystal Reaper, having an epic fail along the way. A couple lipless cranks with different sounding rattles and beautiful coloration came next.

Variety is king with this box, and the huge 5″ Minnow spoon from Freedom Tackle shows that. This spoon is great for targeting big predators like pike. At the other end of the spectrum is the Crazy Hick’s tiny ball tail plastics. These will be great for crappie and other pan fish. A couple other lures and we come to the end of the Elite Ice box with one of my absolute favorite lures. The Dynamic Lures HD Ice has caught me many walleye and sauger and it just so happened that I had lost mine under the ice the previous week. Perfect timing, Simple Fishing!
